Hi there! I had a couple clear nights in a row recently, and managed to get in a solid galaxy image of NGC 891. Take a look at the revision for an annotated copy of the image, and the dozens of galaxies in the frame.

 

This image is a blending of data from an SV80A (widefield), and an AT115EDT (for the galaxy). To be honest, I'll probably revisit this data soon to verify that what I captured in the galaxy is actually there-it's starting to look like deconvolution artifacts the more I look at it... Although it's not zoomed in like most galaxy images, I feel like the wide field really makes the image pop a bit (it also hides the lack of detail in NGC 891, though it looks rather detailed from afar).

That’s a pretty cool shot! Love the way the galaxy almost looks like a pulsar

Yeah. What strikes me is that how similar it looks to the milky way from our sky. I can imagine a similar view from within the galaxy itself!
