Mars with Olympus Mons and clouds over Tharsis  in modest seeing                       Celestron C8  ZWO 1.5 Antares barlow and ZWO 262mc

Before heading out to another cloudy imaging session, a hasty workup posting of a C8 view of Mars showing Olympus Mons approaching the edge and some indications of cloud.  Not very good seeing, but Mark (Lacaille) has just posted some nice images of Mars taken around the same time and in the same suburb so I add this to make an interesting comparison using a smaller scope.

Nice subtle detail and well handled colour! As I write this, I am out with Jupiter and it is just getting enveloped in a cloud bank 🙁

Thanks for the kind words and yes I did not expect those clouds to get off on the front foot quite so quickly tonight!

Au contraire my friend - a very good image Ross waytogo.gif waytogo.gif  - btw, where'd you get that "262mc" from..? ;)

It seems pretty decent picking up clouds btw. :)

I like the colors and incredible contrast that you recorded. Your Mars image has a natural appearance. Well done and congratulations!waytogo.gif

Really nice image and colour balance.  I think that's a cloud over Arsia Mons you have there.  Well done.

Thanks everyone, your kind cloudynight comments helped me cope with the atmospheric clouds on the next imaging night with the 462mc which was supposed to be the best chance of the week but ended up being a bit too cloudy for comfort!
