I find it a little sad to see that Albert is finally selling a slightly modified version of the 16" from Portable Newtonian Telescopes. It is only $2625 for it, really a steal for such an incredible instrument.

Albert's scope inspired my 14.7" f/2.89 Dob.

Why sad?
Maybe he is making another.
Or since he is selling it for less than the mirror price, it sounds like ...
several things. Even the mirror does not hold its value after use.

Well, he says it is priced to sell fast.

Yes. Sad. Health forcing me to give up the hobby. Not building and not observing. Been slowly selling everything. This scope had been kept at our dark sky vacation home which is now is escrow.

Mirror holds up great.

Albert,

It’s sad to hear this news. Thank you again for the opportunity to look through your beautiful scopes when I lived in the Bay Area.

Many of us are decluttering and down sizing as we near the end of our observing days. I am primarily using a small refractor and a handheld binocular now, but still enjoying the hobby. Hope you can find a way to do the same.

Albert,

I have enjoyed your designs from afar as there are not many that I've run across here on the east coast.   I own your book and had the use of one of your designs about a decade ago made commercially by Michelle Stone.

The elegance is in their simplicity.
