I tried vintage style planetary photography with the 6" f/8 newtonian on black and white film (Agfaphoto 400) developed in homebrew Kodak D-11 high contrast developer. The planets were severely overexposed I salvaged them by processing, resizing and cropping the images in gimp. Next time I will bracket! Jupiter is with yellow green filter (4 sec exposure), Saturn 4 sec no filter, Mars 1 sec orange filter. Mars as a matter of fact turned out not bad. The tiny south polar cap is visible!
This is DIFFICULT photography! You have to try it in order to appreciate the work of the old masters!
Thank you in advance for your kind comments!
