Hi everyone,

I have changed cameras, from a modified DSLR to an ASI294 MC Pro.

I process the photos with Pixinsight in the same way, same exposure time, same location and same telescope.

Before, the photos came out of a more bluish color, now they come out of a purple or very reddish color.

In the DSLR I used the same filter as in the ASI294, an IDAS LPS, I don't know if I will need a filter that cuts the IR, although I think the IDAS-LPS already does.

I show you a photo of M33 with the DSLR and the ASI294.

Thanks and best regards,
Luis

I've never used anything but a DSLR for imaging, but is there some sort of white balance setting for the ASI? I get similar results/color shifts if I change ISO on my camera and have it in auto white balance mode, but, if I leave it set on something like sunlight for the white balance, the color shifts stop.

It's difficult to make a fair comparison because the ASI294 MC Pro image has a very obvious gradient - see how the lower edge of M33 becomes purple.

I just moved from a DSLR to an ASI2600MC Pro.  Don't know about the 294, but the ASI2600 has settings for color balance, and they defaulted to something like 52 / 95 (red / blue), where feedback here on CN suggested 50 / 50 is better.  This is with the INDI driver, but ASCOM might be similar.  The values are stored in the camera's non-volatile memory.

Bottom line, check your color balance settings.  DSLRs don't have (or shouldn't use) color balance for RAW images; Astro cameras apparently do.
