"Sperber" 30x45 spotting scope in St. Jerome, QC for $30 CAD. From what little I can find, Sperber was based in Wetzlar, Germany - possibly branded "Hans Sperber".

That one and the Pentax 75 EDHF the seller has are perfect candidates for a "Rolo" revival.  Hopefully he is well enough soon to get these two.  His work on lenses with these issues is amazing.

A moldy TS 65/500 is not worth $420, tbh. You can get a good condition 65/1000 with that amount. IDK why he separated the clamshell, I assume for more money, but it kinda sucks when one of the pic of the band is literally posed with the TS65/500.

Yes that's a good looking scope will look even better after it is cleaned up.

Too far away for me, someone closer is going to get a good deal.

Very cool. The mount and short pier is reminiscent of Kosmos school scope. Perhaps a newer one?

It appears to have a monocular style finder.

The scope looks like a garden-variety Japanese export, the mount is either English or home-brew.  The pier is too short- for a refractor especially, and the feet look like something re-purposed- the footprint is way too small for comfort.  So I'm going with partial or complete ATM mount (possibly English commercial).    The price is about right.

Note that the latitude angle is different between pics, obviously it's not tight.  I suspect the current owner knows nothing about it, hopefully the gear didn't strike the pier when the  polar axis dropped between shots.

Nothing I'd ever be interested in, but it has a certain charm.

We'll get a ear full when Stephen sees this one. It has the early weight compartment in the box and I'm anxious to hear about the box label number.  I inquired about shipping from Canada.

CAUTION: See my entry #71 below.  The box pictures are not the same box.

Box label number is 410600. What is the significance?
Shipping is no problem for me, I'm about 2 hours from Montreal by car.

BTW I'm guessing this is a RAO 76mm?

WAIT  Wait wait,

The ad is showing different boxes in the photos.

The first two box photos next to each other are distinctly DIFFERENT BOXES.  The third box photo taken from a long angle ALSO appears to be yet a third different box!

What do you think?  Something fishy here.

First thing can someone get the serial number of this scope. This is the first REG NO 410600 which looks legit on the box. More about that later.

Now the boxes. Two of the pics of the interior layout are from scopes here on Cloudy Nights. I used those two pics to answer questions in the past. See the two pics below that I posted on CN around Sept 2016.

The descriptions of the pics if you right click will tell what serial number scope they are from. The one box sans the scope serial no 271812 is from one of my scopes....I knew it looked familiar.

For quick ref, here are the two interior box pics that I added notes using MS Paint.  So the seller used the original ones posted here on CN to use in his ad for whatever reason.

Will edit as I get more time. Stephen

The significance of REG NO 410600 would mean that the "4" correlates to what would be a revision to the 10TE for the 1965 model year which most likely was would have be imported I believe as early as mid 1964 for the latter half of 1964 for Holiday season that Fall. This is based on Tasco sales catalogs. Other Tasco scope have a REG NO of "4" such as REG NO 47300 which is a one year only Tasco 7TE Towa version. That scope is only advertised in the ©1964 Tasco sales catalog which is for the Tasco 1965 lineup of scopes etc.

Chuck, Did you look at the link with my comments? Scroll down. The mount connects to the pier very much like a Kosmos.

http://www.astrotech.../kosmos-d61.htm

I've wondered about the usability of the school scopes with very short pedestal mounts.

The one from the link actually has an original equipment small stool to elevate it.

Stool.jpg

Perhaps the CL scope is a unknown Eastern Bloc/Soviet school scope. The OTA sort of has TAL like qualities.

Funny, when i first saw the ad, i thought "those look like two different boxes". Actually, I was thinking that the pictures showed two different scopes as well. The ad just got pulled a minute ago, either it was genuine and the scope sold, or it was a scam.
