Well, I've been meaning to do this for a while, based upon my brief experiences with my AP900 with this OTA (TEC 200ED) and long term use of another 1200GTO doing a GREAT JOB of slinging around an 8.75" F12 achromat (which weighs about 15 pounds more with a much longer moment arm).

So, I cheated mount and scope death one more time and did the swap out between my Losmandy Titan and this 1200.  The 1200 previously provided good support for a large and heavy Parallax/Zambuto 11" F7.2 Newt before I swapped it out for a Mathis MI-500.

Changing the mount out under the big TEC is always a non-trivial and involved process, especially at age 67, but it went well.  Next up tonight will be some stretching and an Aleve.

Looks like there's not enough CW's?

You continue to inspire me, Jeff.  I am 57 and hope I can still manipulate my Tec 200 and AP 1100 mount when I am 67.  Thanks!

Should handle it easily. I have a 6" F15 and a 4" F15 side by side on my Astro-Physics 1200 and it carries them with no problems.

I just love the professional look of the white AP mounts.  That's why I bought an iOptron EQ45 pro.  A poor man's rendition :)

It's perfectly balanced in RA with "only" 48 to 50 pounds of counterweights.  The TEC 200ED is actually a "lite weight' scope for its aperture, F9 focal ratio, and triplet configuration.  As shown, with the rings, aft ring/finder/weight assembly and diagonal + viewer with eyepieces, it comes in at ~ 60 pounds, which is an easy load for the 1200GTO and even its recent previous rides, the MI-250 and the Losmandy Titan.

Compare the number of weights used for those mounts and the 1200GTO, with the number of weights used when the 1200GTO drove the Parallax/Zambuto 11" F 7.2 newt around the sky.
