Lunt LS80THa !!!!
Reason: Look at the double stacked etalon on the Coronado. May be it has only 60 mm diameter.
80 mm real diameter has much more resolution than 70/60mm.
You can complete it with a second etalon later if you want the LUNT a double-stacked later.
greetings Michael

Lunt for customer support and future support. No telling what Coronado will do for you if something is not right. Lots of things can happen to your etalon(s) or blocking filter. Now, if you can find some nice 60mm or 90mm pre-Meade Solarmax etalons, then you have a tougher choice (but zero support on those).
Very best,

ALL very good reasons for the Lunt. That's why mine is coming on Wednesday But customer service aside are the external Etalon better on the Solarmax III then the Lunt internal one? I do know Meade advertise the Solarmax III as a 70mm but use a 60mm Etalon. What is the size of the internal Etalon of the Lunt??

50 mm for the LS80, 35 mm for the DSII double stacking module for the LS80.
The 80/50 ratio of the objective to etalon diameters results in minimal field angle magnification by the collimator lens system, and near front etalon contrast uniformity. Many feel the LS80 hits the "sweet spot" of aperture, contrast, size, and portability. Air pressure tuning is superior to mechanical pressure (rich-view) or tilt tuning. Few see any appreciable difference between 80 mm and 90 mm of aperture. Of course sample to sample variations can occur, and why customer service is an important consideration.
