Hello everyone.

First time post from a long time lurker. (Well since around May) I'm pretty new to Astrophotography. I took my first image of the sky with my phone on May 12th, during lockdown, while having a late night beer in the garden and got hooked. Something that has always interested me but I'd never been in a financial position to try, until now, so I thought I'd take up a new hobby.

Fast forward 6 months and my current set up is a Skywatcher 130PDs on a HEQ5 Pro with Rowan Belt Mod. Canon EOS 60Da, Baader MPCC III and Astronomik CLS Filter. Orion 50mm Guide Cam and Orion Star Shoot Auto Guider. I use APT for imaging and plate solving and PHD2 for guiding. (I did have the EQ3 Pro for 5 months but outgrew that and it's limitations.)

After all the reading, watching tutorials and learning everything that I have so far, I'm up to this image. My best yet. Hope you like it. Comments welcomed. smile.gif

Thank you Skyhunter1.  waytogo.gif  I'm looking forward to the next 6 months. If only the weather would let up a bit and show the sky.

Mother nature is seldom kind to us AP folk in terms of weather. Welcome to the rabbit hole...

That is a very nice image and you've just started. So if I may pitch in some comments.

You're stars are seriously clipped. I don't know if it is already in the linear stage or because of your stretching but you should look into that.

Also, there are some artifacts around the stars, might be over processing or might be the low quality pictures allowed on CN.

Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the feedback imtl.  I would say the clipped stars are due to my inexperience of processing as that is a whole new subject that I'm learning as I go. Although I do have some previous Photoshop knowledge, this is a lot more of a challenge with the stretching of data, etc.

I'm slowly coming to realise that when the data is good, less is sometimes more on the processing side. I'll get there, eventually.

Thanks again. waytogo.gif
