I am very fortunate here in San Diego to have four days in a row of cloudless blue sky, so I got more ambitious today to haul out my TeleVue NP101is with a Powermate 4x (to get an equivalent focal distance of ~2160mm) to take some picture on a real camera (Nikon D850 instead of my iphone the other days). I haven't learned photoshop yet, so any given image cannot possibly capture the dynamic range here. I am attaching four pictures with progressively longer exposure time to show the Jupiter surface detail with underexposed Saturn, to properly exposed Saturn with overexposed Jupiter, to way overexposed planets to capture the four Galileo moons and possibly Titan near Saturn (not sure about the last part, perhaps someone more knowledgeable can help confirm or debunk). The one-directional dispersion is due to atmospheric refraction for these low hanging objects in the sky. I also took a picture of the moon (very high in the sky) to prove to myself the telescope is not out of alignment to cause dispersion.
Jupiter and Saturn are so close to each other today that I struggles to separate them out by naked eye. Looks wonderful in a pair of binoculars.

Please see the two posts (22 and 23) starting with this one for my adventures last night 12-21-20 and the conjunction! Obviously visual was much more stunning, but these are pretty decent for handheld iPhone or Sony camera over eyepiece!

Very nice, one of the best I have seen! Looks pretty much of what I saw in the scope.

Thanks everyone for the great photos & stories! It's been clouds, clouds, & clouds here but a few clear periods leading up to it. Kind of disappointing for me, with the pandemic its an important event like Neowise to salve the soul. Snowing now but eventually it will clear up and get bone-chilling cold.

Please see the three posts (31-32-33) starting with this one for my adventures last night 12-22-20 and the conjunction! Obviously visual was much more stunning, but these are pretty good since I modified with polarizing filters to improve the iPhone performance !
