I took my 100mm WL filter and held it up to look at the sun unaided, and yes I could see the large sunspot! Anyone able to measure it's size in arc seconds?

Thanks Mike, I'll take the middle one, 1.3 arc-min. If the Sun's diameter is 32.4 arc-min then the spot is 1.3/32.4 = .04 sun diameters or .04* 864,000 miles = 34,560 miles across!

Does that mean it would take more than 20 Earths to cover up that spot?

34.560 / 7917 = 4.36 earths would cover it's diameter.

With a little more than 5 Earths needed to cover it in the red-blue direction, the entire spot is about 22 Earths currently. It’ll be interesting to see if that changes in the coming days.
