Hi guys,

 

I was trying to upload a finished picture in Astrobin and when I went to choose the file, Astrobin did not recognize my JPG picture. I was only able to upload it us PNG. 

 

I had saved my work from PixInsight into my desktop after applying the ICC profile to make sure the picture looks the way I see it. That being said, I noticed that I can only apply ICC profile to JPGs and not PNG pictures. 

 

My questions are:

 

1) why is it that Astrobin is not able to recognize my JPG file?

2) since I had to upload a PNG into Astrobin, do I run the risk of different computers seeing the picture differently since I couldn't apply the ICC profile?

Maybe Astrobin has a problem with the ICC profile you have embedded. Astrobin should recognise the ICC profiles of the common colour spaces, so which ICC profile are you using? Try converting your image to sRGB and upload that JPG instead.

 

In any case PNG images are treated as sRGB so everyone should see the result in the same way.

A quick update...after exchanging a few emails with Salvatore, it seems the problem has to do with the old uploader in Astrobin. I was able to upload the picture in JPG using the new uploader.
