Finally some good weather and another chance to image AR 2786.

This time I got some new toys to play with - a new camera ZWO ASI183MM to replace my 178MM. A Tilt adapter to eliminate newton rings and a long awaited electric focuser. had to endure few days of clouds and rain while the gear is waiting to be played with.

Focusing is one of the most annoying element in my system - the Quark with its internal x4.2 barlow makes focusing very sensitive.

As I am not using the most durable mount, touching the focuser by hand makes the image shake a bit and focusing becomes a problem.

And to add to the trouble, my focuser knobs developed a major freedom - rotate it to one direction, and when trying to go back, the knob turns freely for few degrees until the focuser start moving.

With the ZWO EAF, there is no backlash, the focus is very accurate and it makes the entire process way more fun

Regarding the Tilt adapter, I did not get any newton ring today - and the adapter was connected but not tilting anything, might be the change in camera?

Anyway, here are few images of AR 2786 few proms that all got into a single frame that I let my daughter to process.

AR2786 Inverted and colored - any one spots the long eared dog (or lion)?

AR 2786 in BW. The wider field of view is fun

A collection of proms on the other side of the sun. My daughter made a good job to enhance details of the proms.

I can't wait to the point in which I can outsource the processing to her :)

Finally, a zoom into the sunspot. I love this image because it shows lots of details and with relatively little noise (relatively)

Fantastic set of images! You and your daughter make a killer team!

Are you using the full frame of the 183mm for your captures? If so, how many frames/second are you able to capture?

I was able to get about 18-22 FPS with full frame - most images were taken that way today.

That is very kind, but she could probably teach me a lot.

Thanks.

For me its hard to decide as they complete one another.

The none inverted give a more realistic feel to the images while the inverted provide more sense of depth.

In this batch, I love the cropped one as it provides many details in a closeup image.
