Has anyone tried upgrading the stock focuser with a gso one ?

I bought a gso 2inch dual speed but the baseplates are different, and after looking at the ones agena provide it seems none are going to fit.

The skywatcher has a very big hole and the baseplate they i got with the focuser cant clear all the sides, and looking at the measurements of the others seems like they wont either.

I would prefer to not drill extra holes as the scope was just bought new last month and probably would void the warranty if i do.

The focuser bought

I bought a adapter from scopestuff, but not sure how thats going to work, says some extra holes might to be drilled.

Or is there another focuser that could be bought that fits the skywatcher ?

Thanks

I have this same scope and am in the same situation. I bought the GSO focuser with the supposedly correct baseplate, but it does not fit. I would not mind drilling holes, but the needed holes are centered on the edge of the existing ones, making drilling them very difficult. I am unsure if the moonlite baseplate will 100% fit as a bolt on.

I never did get the answer https://www.cloudyni...sw-12-flextube/

Yea same here, and exact baseplate as yours.Ones the adapter gets here ill see what i can do,if not might to to make one.

I work with plastics so i could create one,but will need to create a mold of sorts of the old one to pull the plastic over it,dont want to do it on the original as it might mess up.

Make the hole smaller so the drawtube gets threw and attach the focuser to there.

Worse case scenario i might have to return it or wait 2 years for the warranty to expire before doing the modifications.

Manish @ Agena would know which Base Plate you would need and if it's a direct fit.

I thought about rotating or flipping the symmetrical UTA on mine and starting from scratch and just patching the hole up on the other side. Cloudy night thoughts.

I did not buy the adapter ring. Instead I did align the 2mm annular gap carefully.

Works with a GSO Focuser (the Omegon is a GSO), but: don´t expect too much from a GSO crayford, had the regular Dual Crayford, the Mono and the Monorail focuser.

In fact, I did like the SW Dual Crayford more than the GSO Monorail cause it was smoother when adjusted and would not do it again for visual.

That would work, but then i saw the lacerta upgrade that converts the stock focuser to dual speed.Which would be cheaper then buying all the nessary parts, both are going to be shipped overseas as well.
