edmund Palomar.  $50

That Edmund looks like the 6" model to me, with a complete mount, clock drive and extra pier.  I would easily pay 3-4 times the asking price if it were near me.

Awesome scope.   Shipping costs are reasonable.  These do not come up for sale very often.

Actually is almost as common as FL80s. There were 2 FL90s auctioned last month, those are rare.

Shipping cost kills that deal for me.

wouldn't be expensive only for OTA tbh.

Got mine from Koji -- he packed it better than original.  I don't recall the shipping being outrageous...

Americans live in a shipping bubble.  Free shipping from giant companies, I've seen scopes shipped from shopgoodwill for absolute peanuts.  But shipping something internationally, that has a bit of weight, 12,000 miles, actually costs money.

I set up and appointment for noon. I got there on time. I saw it. The OTA was in decent shape but, the mount was junk. I was  still willing to pay him his advertised price. I had my cash out in my hand but, he changed his mind and said he wanted to wait for "the best offer". He wanted me to "hang out" someplace in town for three hours until the other people, who he never mentioned until then, had a chance to make their offers. That is not the way his ad was written. So, after I drove two hours and blew half a tank of fuel he now wanted it to become a bidding war. I tired to explain to him that this was not what his ad stated but, he wasn't going to listen. So, I just got in the car and left. He later sent a message saying that he sold it for $100.00. That's all fine and dandy. If I had any idea that he was going to to that I never would have gone. Instead, all I wound up doing was to waste an entire day and a tank of gas! I'm still steamed over it. Oh well. It's a lesson learned, I guess. Always ask the really obvious questions, first!

The man said, $50 or best offer.  So holding out for a best offer of $100 worked.  But I don't think it's suppose to work that way.

Some people are clueless about how things work and by some people I mean the seller.  I once had a guy want to buy a radio off me on Ebay.  So a week later he called asking where the radio was.  I asked him, "You do know you have to PAY first, right?"  Clueless.

For those with a little change in their pockets, and a love of classic, large refractors: a 10" 1891 Alvan Clark F15 on AMart for $80k.  Just need a few hundred grand to built a garage to house that thing and to ship to California.  Would be incredible to have...

Very nice looking piece of machinery . Harmonic drives puts it in the "high society" of mounts.

Yes, it’s nuts! That 4.25” F10 Newt cost 79 bucks new. It looks like the found the price in an old catalog and then just adjusted for inflation!

In the listing the seller writes:  "The telescope will be carefully packed in two containers, which will be insured for a flat fee of $125"

So something is in disconnect.  Maybe they meant to list it at $125?

It says   make offer option

I guess if one wanted it   and wanted to test the price   one could make an offer in the realistic price area and see what happened???

I'm pretty sure the he is selling the scope for $825, and the shipping is $125 more.

I honestly don't know. I think it's just that he was not a literary major and wrote poorly. He got a better offer. It's over. I'll just let it go and learn from the ordeal.
