Hi there,

I'm currently at Myrtle Beach for the next months and I did order a Nexstar Evolution 6" which come with a 13 and 40 mm plossl. I already have the complete Meade series 4000 EP but not with me. Would it be a good idea to also order a Meade 4000 zoom for while I'm here?

I have 3 of them, the older models, apparently they give better performance than the newer versions but I have never tried the newer. I know one thing the views through mine are excellent for what they are, a zoom ! I also have the new Orion E series and 2 Svbony zooms, 8-24, 10-30 and those 3 give great performances as well. I recommend everyone have one and up to the last year I was not a zoom type viewer but things change, thoughts change !

Not a bad idea. Cheap and you could use your scope while you are away. Might like it better than the Plossls due to convenience.

I liked the Meade Zoom for the 1mm focal length increments which I found handy.   I had two and found one marked "China" to be issue free however the one marked "Japan" had a fuzzy Field Stop (for some reason).

I have the Meade zoom and like it a lot to me it seem to be built very well and the optic are very sharp this zoom works well with all my scopes.
