This is normal in Europe. Nobody saves on furniture here. When you finally relocate to Spain, you will see for yourself ;-)

You crack me up Lukas! So I need to plan on using step ladders for my furniture we'll put by la piscina - no problem laugh.gif

And here I was thinking there was telescope shortage going on, but now I see that there are many brilliant entrepreneurs that have stocked up on "inventory" and are getting ready to open up their own telescope shops now that they've bought up all the supply and demand is through the roof! lol.gif

I'm sure some of them think it's funny, but likely these living rooms are taken over on a temporary basis only. and I'm sure even more partners are entertained by the pictures. when you marry someone with science hobbies it is because you appriciate those sorts of things, so the telescope itself probably reminds them of what a smart partner they found.

My wife would love to have a telescope on display, but she is also afraid the kids will drop it on themselves. It is a statement of [shared] values.

And to any wives annoyed by a telescope on display, buy him one that looks good enough for your fashion sense. or buy after market parts. (elegant creame tubing, with quality mehogany legs?)

And one last edit: nowI have this image of a mak or sct in creame tubing, with bronze finished fittings and eq mount, with lovely cherry legs. save me now.

Me too! Except it’s a Mak or a Classical Cassegrain of 6” to 8” aperture.

I've been trying to convince my fiancé to do a photoshoot with my telescopes in 80's Celestron advertisement fashion.  Haven't gotten through to her yet...

Yes Rick, a 1957 BMW ISETTA , repurposed  into a loveseat.. now holding my astro parts,  camera stuff, books, and grab n go scopes... a 90mm Meade mak, and C90. ( silver case and black tool bag) and my binos...3 pair

This was first owned by a dear friend  of mine who had many. This one was the last  and was used to keep garbage at the curb for 20 yrs. When I got it , I had 3  myself and kept this in my garage for 10 yrs on a shelf until I got antsy  and redid it.

Now it serves many  needs  . Notice my scopes , Meade SN 10, Dynamax 8, C8, and the smallest NEWTONIAN REFLECTOR ,40 MM  attachicon.gifIMG_20210126_165228.jpg

Glad to make your day .   Stevegeo

When we lived in London in the mid-1960s, there was a dealer down the road from my school who sold BMW Isettas. There were 3 & 4 wheel versions in different colours. Heinkel and Messerschmidt bubble cars were around as well.

Anyway, my living room has my brass TV 85 & TV 102 Renaissance on a walnut & brass tripod. Both scopes stay nicely polished.

My heinkel is parked in the back room of my house ..sectioned the wall out . Made it swing. Drove car on deck into house closed wall .it my museum piece . The wall also makes it easy to wheel out the C11 to the deck .

Yes I'm a bit different.

Sometimes things don't work out the way you plan.

We have a vacation cabin/home and for the longest time I thought the Soligor would look good set up in this corner of the living room. It didn't quite fit like in my mind's eye, but decided to live with it and see. That evening the glow of the TV reflecting off the white tube was a strong distraction in the corner of my eye. I moved it next to a window but it's long tube seemed a bit much. I brought it home but it was nice just see it set up for the 3 weeks I was there. A Telescope set up makes for good company.

Soligor-Living.jpg

It does look good in a photo.

Maybe one day it will go back, but my wife said she'd rather see the orange C90 Astro (or C5) on the purple heart tripod. She thinks the C90 or C5's small size and the colors are more artistic. The C90 use to be on display by the window but was brought home during living room renovation and for it's servicing.

So i used my e.Vion 3 inch refractor last night. I've had it for over 25 years. Just OTA and box and eyepieces. Never had original mount but i like it  on sears 6339 mount. I will keep it set up in corner of living room for awhile.

Here's my contribution to this thread! This little Tasco early 6te was a gift from my friend Charlie B, given to us during (Mel Dawson and I) our 2014 visit to Stellafane! Fits nicely in its corner in the the living room. Gary

As were these two little Unitrons a few years earlier:

Ha Ha! - I first read that as "Two Little Unicorns" saluting your tree Angel.

Benefits of a warped mind.

P.S. - Your Questar is beautiful and a suitable ornament to any tree. I hope someday to persuade one of those to come live with me. bow.gif
