Will Star Sense work on a CPC 1100 mount that’s about 12 years old?

I am not sure but I think Starsense needs the NexStar HC running firmware version 5.x or latter which came out in 2012.

If your scope is 12 years old the HC will be prior to this (version 4), but think it can be upgraded?

Correct, you need 5.X or later.

Upgrading is easy provided you have the necessary cables.

I already have a Star Sense hand controller which came with my Star Sense camera.  So I would replace the older CPC 1100 hand controller with my Star Sense Hand controller and would it work with the CPC 1100 mount ?

As long as your mount is compatible with a version 5.x Nexstar hand controller I think you will be ok, the age of your scope predates this though it would be version 4 so am not sure?
