We are in total agreement with that! That is not even a Dynamax 8 but, a Dynamax 6. To my knowledge, it was a total hit or miss if any of that series had even decent optics. We have one friend who bought one when they were in production. He had to send it back ten times before he got one with good optics. His story could be used to frighten little children into behaving at bed time! LOL

It does appear to have never been used. If it was used it was only a few times. It looks about as new as one will ever find. Even so, it's a total crap shoot. Along with that the 23% buyer's premium (a.k.a. sucker's fee) is excessive. 10% or maybe even 15% would be what we consider fair to high. However, 23% is just piracy. That's for people with more money than brains! Last is the shipping. I found no way to determine the cost of shipping. Since it was noted that they have a reputation for excessive shipping rates we would steer clear of this one.

Your mileage may vary.

Addendum: We avoid any and all anti-social media platforms so, we have nothing to do with FB and never will. Therefore, we can't look at those listings. For what it is worth. LOL

Q

None of that line of scopes had good optics. I can almost say the same for all the Celestrons i have had as well minus two super sharp 1's. I had a D6 and it was just fair, but sure was about the same as many Celestron SCT's i had in the past.

Another Manon.

As much as I like them it seems a little on the high side.

Especially since none of the EPs are original. Also the barlow has a big replacement thumb screw.

Just pointing things out for those who might be interested.

Those Manons are great scope.  Never found one with bad optics.  They were all great.

This Zeiss Traveler was on CL maybe a year ago and is back....

but it's going to cost you a bit more than the Manon.

Got to love Zeiss scopes.  If they were only still making them.

I went and looked at that Astro R-63 on GW.  It sold for about 200 plus shipping.

The spacers on the objective look wrong IMO.

You can tell all that from one spacer?

It looks wider than any other I've seen on these scopes in person or in photos. Also projects farther in. Just my opinion.

I have an appointment tomorrow to view this telescope.  Hopefully, it looks ok.  Something doesn't look right with the lens.

I've instructed my kids that, (in the inevitable that I croak before I'm ready to, (isn't that always the case?), to not think twice about donating them to Goodwill or St. Vinnies. Some here talk of taking their favorites to their grave but if they can't be rendered to ash?

Shhhh. The Zeiss is in my hood man. Every 3 weeks or so he drops the price by $100. I figure by the summer or fall of 2022 I might find my way to afford it lol.gif

You're right. I noticed that the spacer looked way too big but forgot to mention it. The description mentions Cloudy Nights, that and the condition of the lens leads me to think that the seller probably cleaned up the lens and replaced them in the process.

Faux-Scratches.jpg

This photo is from the Flint side of my Manon. It was taken before cleaning to illustrate an illusion I won't get into now,

but notice how much smaller the spacer at the right is. There's three in there but they are hard to see in this photo.

If they were the size of the one on ebay, they'd be much more easily seen.

BTW, it cleaned up very nicely.

Looked? I figured you were one of those in the thick of it.

Anyway, I watched it now and then and was actually relieved when I saw it going to where I would no longer be tempted. whew.gif

Cali wins by far on real scopes. That scope is nowhere near me or i would offer $200 and call it a day.

Been that way for years.  A lot of those retired guys in FL sooner or later stop using their scopes and put them up for sale.  Been great looking through the FL Craigslist.  Have gotten so many good deals in FL.
