I bought the Explore Scientific eyepiece case but it’s too small so I need something bigger.

Given these eyepieces, do you think I should get the Baader Hyperion case and try to fit the non-Baader eyepieces in, or is there a better DIY option I should pursue?

Seems like a lot of people have made nice cases on their own - is there another thread that explains the best ways to do that?

There's a pretty long thread on the Eyepieces Forum, Eyepiece case or box what are you using? Cases of all makes & models, and a few DIY cases that are very well executed.

The Apache cases from Harbor Freight Tools are great. You can even get them in hunter orange for better low light visibility. While you’re there pick up a cheaper carrying case for lens
cleaning supplies or miscellaneous related items.

Wood wonders makes amazing cases. I got one earlier this year, Ron (the master woodworker) actually made mine a bit custom, to fit a larger sky chart. I thought the custom work would be expensive, but was surprised how cheap the customization was. The led lights are fantastic for all purposes, and the fact that you can dim them is incredibly helpful. Can’t say enough good things about it. They are made to order, so there is a little wait, but worth it.

My ep's, mostly 60 to 70 degree, are in bottles/boltcases, in a case from a secondhand store.

Mission stores like salvation army etc, have all kinds of types and sizes to choose from, for pennies on the dollar.

Affordable to upgrade too.

I used cases from other sources. Photos in the thread below.

Also I have one of the Harbor Freight tool case before the APACHE cases came out.

I would get a case a little larger then what will hold the eyepieces you have now.  You will be getting more.

May not know it but you will.  LOL

There are many ‘best’ case options out there, and some come with silly prices. I found this little gem at Walmart of all places today for $25! It’s hard thick composite plastic like the expensive ones use, two heavy duty thick snap shut handles, a thin bottom buffer layer, TWO layers of pick and pluck foam and the eggcrate foam on top. It’s also has TSA approved lock holes on either side. Made by Flambeau. It’s their ‘XT Double Pistol Case’. (Interior dimensions are 12” L x 9” W x 5” D). It has a weatherproof sealing gasket encompassing the entire lip of the box and a pressure release valve like the expensive cases do.

I second the Apache case from Freight Harbor. But the pluck foam in comes with is not the best.

I have one and will be needing to replace the foam soon.
