When I came home late after work yesterday, I immediately pulled out my 4" refractor to take a look at the near full moon. At its eastern edge the "magnetic anomaly" of Reiner Gamma was very striking. Seeing was not that great, but I decided to sketch this very interesting and mysterious feature anyway. I used a dark grey piece of paper and black + white pastel pencils. Magnification 204x (7mm DeLite + 2x Barlow)

The sketch was later photographed and flipped horizontally for correct orientation

This is really an extraordinary drawing Roel. The dramatic highlights of Gamma with more muted surroundings is very striking.

Very nice and detailed drawing of Reiner Gamma. You might want to submit this and other lunar drawings to ALPO and for its monthly newsletter The Lunar Observer.

Excellent work!  This is a striking lunar feature when the moon is near full.  I wonder if any of this feature would be visible from the surface.

Regards,

Randolph
