Took my first shot with my Nikon Mirrorless camera attached to my Meade SCT 8". It's slightly out of focus, but today I just got in the Bahtinov Mask which should improve focusing. I use a HEQ5 Pro mount. A single 30 sec image.

Nice shot.  Which mirrorless?  I'm tired of waiting (getting close to 1 month now) for my Z6II and have been considering canceling and getting the Z5 or original Z6 instead.

I used the Z5. It's a great camera. I also used the original Z7. Except for the sensor, the Z5 is basically the same camera. Same AF system. Nikon's updates to the AF have really helped.

Nice shot...   I love using a canon m6 II for astro.  If you get tired of waiting for gear, there are always options.. !

Clear Skies !

Thanks! Camera is not modified and no filters. Just attached my Nikon Z5 to the OTA and fired a shot. OTA was on my HEQ5 Pro.

What was the ISO set at???   When you focus with the mask,, when shooting M42,  go to a star in Orion and focus on it. Put the straight line in the middle of the X.   Got to M42, and shoot away.  Playing your ISO, exposure time.  Plenty of images,  with 200 images you can choose to process 50, 100, any number up to your max you shot.

                Good luck,    Joe

ISO 1600. I just got a mask and if I don't sell the scope(have it listed in classified), I will use the mask for focusing and have at it again. Seeing I get really good tracking with my HEQ5 Pro, I'll start at  1-2 minute exposures of around 800 ISO and see how it looks and adjust if needed. Thanks Joe.
