With the ioptron standard pier there is the disclaimer that it "may limit low latitude application" when used with their GEM45 mounts. No additional information as to why are at what latitude this would be a problem. Does anyone have any information as to why the pier would cause problems that are not evident if using a tripod?

Certain iOptron Mounts have this disclaimer  "special CW shaft mounting if <10°"

 

Basically the CW will hit the Tripod legs or Pier so retangular CW's are required.

Thanks for the response which is very helpful. So it will not be a concern as I do not plan to travel to 10 degrees or less latitude with this mount. Putting together a RedCat and Star Adventurer kit that I can take on a plane for trips down south - post pandemic.
