If the screen is dark with a 2" exposure in the daylight, your camera isn't connected. A 2" exposure should just be a pure white screen, regardless of focus point.

Which driver did you select in SharpCap  and Altair Capture that worked ?

Have you selected the same driver in the PHD2 Connect Equipment window ?

An exposure of 2 Seconds is a typical exposure for seeing stars, so will be way overexposed during the day, try 0.05 seconds in PHD2.

I aren't selecting a driver doesn't the software do that?

2 pages in and nobody has asked about the debug log....

So please supply the debug log as described at https://openphdguidi...g/getting-help/

You can post the link to the logs either here or you might want to post your issue over at the PHD2 support forum - analyzing debug logs is somewhat specialzed

Is the PHD support forum part of Cloudy nights?

My experienced neighbour came over last night and checked everything and after 45mins suddenly had stars on the screen. He's not sure exactly what the problem was, but could have been because he switched USB ports. The mount wasn't tracking though so couldn't test guiding. After 3 attempts at 2* alignment we both had to call it a night with health issues so never got guiding.

Could be a few days now before the cloud clears.

No. It is a forum dedicated to PHD2 support run by the people that write the code. There is a link to it on the Getting Help page. Or follow this one https://groups.googl...pen-phd-guiding

No need to wait for a clear night. Just post the logs from the days when you had problems. They will still be there. Follow the instructions on the Getting Help page. Or use the PHD2 help menu.
