When it comes to telescopes not used for astrophotography and only used for viewing, is there any other reason someone would not buy a CPC Deluxe HD telescope as compared to the lower version CPC (XLT) telescope?

The cost is for flatter fields out to the edge and for plain viewing we always centre the object we're looking at. That said, the HD models also have cooling vents so acclimatise faster than their XLT equivalents (except for the 14" which even the XLT comes with the cooling vents.)

Even for visual only, the poor edge-of-field view with my C8 drives me nuts. Especially when scanning my eye around in a wide field eyepiece. I'd go for the HD.
