Astrotech ship just docked. The famous AD72EDII is now available and all CN members get a discount at Astronomics! Life is so good.

Hello,

I would like to thank you all once again for all your advices!

A Maksutov-Cassegrains would be ideal, but unfortunately it is out of my budget.

So it seems that now the choice should be between:

- Meade Infinity AZ 70mm : I know this is well reviewed and provides everything out-of-the-box (https://www.meade.co...ope/category/2/)

- Skywatcher StarTravel 80 mm OTA + photo tripod : I don't know at all the OTA, is that any good? (http://skywatcher.co...duct/bk-804az3/)

...furthermore here in Europe ALL the telescopes are unavailable at the moment, it seems the COVID-19 crisis has impacted the Synta distribution a lot ! They should return on the market in late spring/summer... bawling.gif

The Skywatcher and a photo tripod was my choice when we went to Lastovo, a Crotian Island, with the plane to Split and from there with bus and ferry to the island which has a Bortle class 2 sky.

I still like to use that (just) 1.3kg refractor. It was ~ 140€ (i'm german). My my old Giotto tripod (Ebay 50€)  weights 1.6kg, a cheap Seben Zoom, a ball head and you got all you need. And you are still below 5kg!

150 € for all together, no way or just sheer luck. Imho - you got to double this.

Also in Germany, all sold out but here it is still available. Btw. a well known trader.

Ciao Hans
