I don't even know if the eye-end of a finder is called an eyepiece but hopefully you know what I mean. My Mewlon's 7x50 finder has a very loose "eyepiece". It turns very freely and there's quite a bit of play in it if my eye makes contact with it; it wobbles.

It does focus and the views are as to be expected, but it just feels wrong. Perhaps a tiny bit of teflon grease?

Should have a silver lock ring on it, no?

I have about the same. It doesn't wobble when I touch it with my eye, but I can shift the eyepiece around by hand easily.

No silver locking ring, no. It doesn't wobble when I put my eye to it - I seem to have imagined that. As long as it's normal, I shan't worry, but just seems a bit daft seeing as the finder itself it so bomb-proof it forms part of a handle!

I am definitely not grabbing my Mewlon by the finderscope. It feels rigid but not enough to serve as a handle IMHO.

No, me neither but that's what I've read time and again...it stays aligned and mine has. The scope also reached me well collimated so happy days. Now, its eventual mount would arrive I can really start enjoying it.
