Not the most exciting day as far as solar activity is concerned, but the clear skies did present an opportunity to work on my imaging techniques. This is a composite of two images blended in Photoshop. Since the seeing was poor, I opted for short exposures to maximize my chances of capturing a decent image (I think this makes sense but let me know if I'm off-base). I deliberately underexposed the surface (keeping the histogram around 55%) so that I wouldn't clip the highlights in the active regions during post-processing.
Surface: 3ms, gain at 70, best 5% of 2,000 frames
Proms: 3ms, gain at 280, best 5% of 2,000 frames
I used SharpCap 3.2 for the capture and AS!3, ImPPG, and Photoshop for processing. It came out maybe a tad over-sharpened, but overall I'm happy with the result.
