G'day all.

I have a Skywatcher ED80 and have been given an Orion field flattener to try before I buy it.

However it seems to be an older model without the M54 and M48 adapter.

I tried to get an answer from the manufacturer but they referred me to this forum.

The situation is as follows.

My camera is the QHY268M and comes with M54 and M48 threaded end spacers.

However the M54 doesn't screw on the male thread of the Orion field flattener.

So I asked the manufacturer what thread size it was but no luck.

I think it is M56 x 0.75 which seems an odd size.

Can someone confirms this?

How are others using this field flattener with their equipment?

I have attached a picture showing the thread.

I have this flattener, and also use a SkyWatcher 80ED

looking at your pictures, you're definitely missing something. This is what I screw the spacer into:

There are actually two of these that come with the flattener. This one is the larger of the two. The ring on the left, and the cap for said ring on the right.

And this is what the entire image train looks like. I'm curious as to why our pictures look different (the bit where the flattener is connected to is different on yours compared to mine... care to share a larger picture?)

What didn't come with the flattener are exactly those bits.

My picture shows the flattener in the Feather Touch focuser.

What I need is that left part in your picture.

Does it have a part number or any identification?

I went to someone locally who had the same flattener and reducer.

It came with the adapters as you mentioned and will obviously fit.

I emailed the manufacturer and their reply was "that it is not an item we carry."

It's their own adapter!

That's quite nuts. I had a look at the ring today, and there's no spare parts list.

Have you contacted Orion directly? (telescope.com).

What you're looking for is an M54 female to M48 male adapter.

I've had a quick google search and it's possible to buy them, but not cheaply

Anyway, here are some pics of mine

Thanks Wow!

Yes I had contacted them directly and it was their reply I posted. :-)

The weird thing is that I have a M54 adapter from QHY which is measuring 53 what you are showing.

And that adapter doesn't fit.

I did measure the M564 I have and it comes as 53 mm and a bit which does not fit.
