The great telescope shortage of 2021 doesn't mix with my ADD.

Placed an order for an LX90-12ACF, wondering how long everyone has been waiting for deliveries?

They are saying 2-4 weeks, but yeah right. I ordered from BHphoto.

What doesn't kill you only makes you strong.

Most recently, I waited about 18 months for a TEC-140 (which is a more-or-less normal wait time) but was then sent on a three-month work assignment the day after it arrived.

WO Z81, Ordered Feb 22, received March 15.

So 21 days from order being placed to receiving.

Will say I think the expected time given was longer then 21 days on the retailers site.

I am going on 4 months waiting for an 8"edgeHD reducer from Astronomics.   I emailed Celestron about it, not very helpful.

I must be the luckiest stiff on CN!

I placed an order with Woodland Hills on March 1st for a Celestron 14" Edge HD, Focal Reducer and Feathertouch Focuser.

I knew of the massive delays of course, but just to make sure, Farah reeled off several unfulfilled 14" Edge orders placed with Woodland from November through February. I told her no worries at all and that I'm a very patient man.

I got a call March 17th that the scope, reducer and focuser were all in and my order was ready!!!

As with much in life, whether purposeful or by dumb luck, timing is everything.

A few months isn't too bad compared with waiting for an A-P scope: Technically, I am still waiting .... I got on the A-P Traveler notification list in Dec 1999, but sadly the scope was discontinued before my name came up.

So in the highly unlikely event they start making them again, it will be 22 years for me at the end of this year.

My Orion order from September 2020 is still on backorder with an estimated delivery of May 2021.  If you need any new Solar gear for the June 2021 Solar eclipse, get it now, if it is not already too late.  At the very minimum, you need eclipse glasses.  The Celestron Solar binocular I ordered in September 2020 arrived in March 2021.

There have been a dozen threads about this issue lately so do not feel alone.  Most quality telescopes and mounts are out of stock.  In general there seems to be a great lack of reliable information regarding when things will be back in stock.

I have resorted to purchasing telescopes and accessories from countries other than the US.  Even then it is very difficult to find what what wants.  It takes a lot of searching.

Cry me a river, been waiting since Aug 2020.

To add insult to injury, people who ordered the exact same OTA months later than me have already received theirs.

And I started a nearly identical thread:

There is always the Classifieds, but it seems that most of the popular equipment sells rather quickly there.

I was lucky also.  Ordered an AT152EDT mid October 2020 and got it in November.

It was on the boat in October.

Before that I waited for about 4 years to be able to buy an FS102.

Then another 4 years to but an APM 130 9.25.

I guess that is different then placing an order and then waiting.  I just waited to get the $$$ to buy.

If you have had kids you should know how to be patient.

Kick back and before you know it your stuff will be here.

Enjoy it when you can.

Even after the order wait, you still have to deal with the carrier getting it to you.

Perfect example:

Had a friend mail me a USB stick with some family information on it.

Put it is a bubble wrap envelope and mail it FIRST CLASS. That was on Monday the 5th.

I live in Kansas....So far it hasn't left the east coast yet, but I bet it has seen some great site seeing....

Let me mention first - I'm located in Germany, so things I mention might not match the experience in other countries.

With my preferred merchants and my preferred carrier, I use to get the stuff listed as in-stock, within 2-3 days (usually even next day). If something is not in-stock, it depends on the manufacturer, but I have rather positive positive experience (less than expected) with delivery times.

Just to mention - I'm not after cheapest offer (or certain brand) out there, but more after reliability and good service. Was never disappointed so far.

I purchased a Takahashi FOA60 from Germany because there were none available in the US.  The store shipped it in two days but it was stuck in Customs for three weeks.  I got it today and I am happy it did not get lost in some dark Customs warehouse.
