My Autostar 497 hand controller has blank/garbled characters display but other functions are working fine.

I may try that. In the meantime, I ordered another display for a 2nd 497 that I had purchased on eBay that claimed to be working but had no functional display at all. The controller works perfectly! I also updated the firmware (it was at version 22er!)
