Hello together ,

Many years ago I started astronomy as an hobby . I strongly remember on an picture where an daylight astronomer standing with his Schmidt cassegrain in an dessert. In background was an white tend and he wears an cowboy hat. This picture was one of the key factors to start this hobby.

Does anyone know this picture?

Greetings Stefan

You’ll have to remember whether this image was in an astronomy magazine or something, otherwise we wouldn’t know where to start. Though I admit, searching for pics like this is fun.

I know my own memory "plays tricks" on me -- especially over longer periods of time.  However, a few questions may help you with details, even if they are vague or uncertain...

My impression is that the photo was black & white.  Do you recall?  Was the photo b&w or color?

Was it a large tent - perhaps set up for a vendor or an audience?  -Or was it a small tent for camping?

Would you be able to narrow down an "era" for the photo and your seeing it?  1970s? 1990s?

Was the "cowboy" wearing glasses or sunglasses?

Were there any other people in the photo (perhaps in the background)?

Did you see the photo in a book, or a magazine?  -Or are you unsure?

Your description did not strike me as familiar, but I will check my archives...

Best wishes and luck.

Dan

It was a color picture.

It was an mid size tend, like an vendor but without commercial.I think it was in Creme color .

Would you be able to narrow down an "era" for the photo and your seeing it? 1970s? 1990s?

Sunglasses

Were there any other people in the photo (perhaps in the background)?

No other people .

I’m unsure .

Good job, Alex.  I was wondering if Uncle Rod may have been involved... waytogo.gif

I can also imagine that image getting "mixed up" with this one (another classic)...
