I cannot get the telescope to slew close to horizon level using the wifi connection to my iPhone.  It stops about 30 degrees above horizon.

I have checked the "SkyPortal" app setting and have the slew controls set too maximum.

It is making it very difficult to use local landmarks for alignment purposes.

If you have a Windows notebook computer, you may wish to try CWPI (Windows only) in lieu of SkyPortal. I found many limitations and issues with SkyPortal as a controller for my (now sold) Astro-fi, but found that CWPI worked perfectly.

Thank you for the pointer to CWPI app.  I am a Mac person but have a recent windows laptop gathering dust.  I shall resurrect it and start using it.  You have probably saved my amateur astronomy career!
