Just the stylized backpack that screams "tacky."

Yeah, I know that I'm shallow but I've never been able to get past that particular offering. IIRC, it was around the same time as an advertisement featuring William Yang in an Elizabethan ruffle paraphrasing Shakespeare.

Well, if WO got authorization to use the Ferrari logo then the price would be commensurate as a no longer made collectable for Ferrari nuts.  Not sure this is authorized though as not the full logo is being used but just the horse.  So the important thing about the scope is the logo, not the pedigree of the optics.  Of course, paying that amount for a Stowaway IMO would be equally ridiculous.  However, aficionados are aficionados, whether AP or Ferrari, so they will pay exorbitantly as they are paying for the perceived mystique they hold.

Reminds me of when posers would put big Trans Am bird decals on the hoods of Pontiac Sunfires and such.  No idea why they thought marketing a scope to Ferrari fans was a great idea.  But I'm not a marketer.

Wow, $5,500 for a 70mm "apo"; in reality it's likely an ED doublet with FPL-51 glass, like the WO Zenithstar from 10-15 years ago (and my Stellarvue ED80), but with Ferrari emblems. This scope was also offered with "Ferrari red" color tube and possibly in other sizes such as 80mm. It might be worth somewhere in the $400-$700 range, give or take, depending on condition and what is included, but I'm no expert on telescope values. It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I would hope that anyone looking on e-bay for "deals" would research the item being sold before making an offer, in order to avoid getting ripped off.

Astrophotography is very popular in Italy, the home of Ferrari, I suspect these were all sold locally to Ferrari aficionados.

Like the 1978 Mustang II Cobra, with Cobra snake emblems and stripes like the '69-'70 models; but with a wheezy 302 with 129 horses, lol.

I used to attend a Italian car convention in so. cal every year and one of the guys rotated through one of his 6-7 Ferraris every year.

He also rotated through girl friends and every year they showed up in a $10k dyed leather skirt/vest/boots combo that matched the color of which ever Ferrari he brought that year.

If this telescope happened to match the color of one of his cars $5k would be insignificant.

They did. Don't you remember the ads from around 10 years ago? There's a matching 8x25 binocular too.

Hey, everybody knows Ferraris are nothing but expensive scope haulers.

Maybe it's expensive since a Members Only jacket is included.
