                 My new cem70g is out for delivery so my first setup should be tonight. The question is that at this time I will be using an OTA that is 11LP's. Do I really need a counterweight?

(  the OTA comes from a mead etx125 that I got new last year and the mount has already died.)

yes, the bar is to balance just the mount head. so, any additional weight on the mount needs another weight to be added. could be a small one, though.

Yes.

 

I use a Lunt 60mm solar scope on my CEM60.  7 pounds.  The stock counterweight works, but barely.  It's so high clearance is a problem.  With 11, you're probably good.
