U Hya is a bright red carbon star, one of the best in the sky. The immediate field is rich in stars and a wonderful binocular target.

Friday evening instead of usual visual observing, i wanted to play with the camera. I'm not very good  with imaging.

The first pic is  7 frames of JPEGS, 30 seconds each,  stacked to saturate the red color. I think some clouds moved in and made it a little blurry.

The subsequent pics are crops of the original, starting at the top right  and moving clockwise. The designation SCA (Scardia) is predominant.

Hi Ray!

No need to apologize for your imaging skills...those are great images!! I find the imaging activity is so satisfying. Not only does it leave you with a record of where you have been, but quite often exposes things that a less attentive eye can miss. Keep them coming!!

Cheers, Chris.

Super images here, Ray! applause.gif

Thank you for doing them.

I must say - some of these have very unfamiliar designations.

But we all have to live and learn.

That carbon star U Hydrae is one super carbon star.

It can get as bright as TX Piscium.

And I'm sure you knew that. waytogo.gif

All the very best from Aubrey.
