Been cloudy here since the 18th.  By the time the Moon is visible again it will be Full I'm afraid.  Have to catch these regions during the waning phases I guess.

There has only been a couple of times since last summer that weather has been favorable for 1st quarter, part of the challenge

Only my opinion, but being able to look at these on my big monitor at home now, I prefer the Thumbnail preview resolution to the full resolution images. I think their presentation benefits from the reduction.

They are resized by 2/3rds just to fit in here, it does take its toll, but often closeup of the moon do look much different/better when you have large borders surrounding them, I’ve actually thought about presentation and how people could make judgement calls on the color and size of a matt

Playing with borders, only really takes a minute so maybe it’s something I should consider doing since I have to resize everything anyway

I like the border idea.  I've been adding a black background canvas to my planetary pictures to keep the presentation size after upload under control.  I'll have to try that with lunar too I think.  I've also been keeping the images as close to the 500kB limit as possible but I noticed a series of uploads yesterday that were only about 50kb and they looked fine on my monitor.  Maybe that will keep the scale from going too large on upload too?

I find it a little annoying, I have an app that resizes my images just for cloudy nights and it causes clutter and confusion in my camera roll because I end up with multiple images of the same thing and can’t tell at a glance which ones are my high res images unless I open them.... it’s a little archaic, when I upload to share on MeWe it’s just resizes them for me in a fairly non destructive way.... it does lose detail but nothing the average viewer would see.... it’s mostly evident on the moon when we zoom in to see if a hard to catch feature revealed itself.

Experiment, just used the app I used to make the border to rescale after making it, unfortunately it only tells me the dimensions instead of size before saving so just set it at approx 1000x550 and that ended up giving me a 400kb image.... I guess I’ll start doing this, it solves the problem of clutter because I’ll know if it has a border then it’s low res

One more to get a handle on it, looks like if I just keep the biggest dimension at 1000 then it keeps the png under 500k

I like the borders, especially the first one you shared. Very snazzy looking. I am stealing this idea for the images I share on farcebook.

I use leonardo iOS app, it lets you select two colors and then manipulate the width of each... somewhat limited but pretty cool and easy

I think this is the style you said you liked best, obviously you can share bigger images if you save as jpeg but I think it might be best to stick with png.... if you use FB they will probably get converted there anyway and it’s the multiple conversions of jpeg that really starts to degrade
