Hi All,

thought I would share first light with my new AT72EDII of M3. Just FYI for those interested, balancing this scope in Dec is tricky, very back end heavy. Plan on having a way to extend the entire assembly forward, or having a Dec weight for the front.

Nice pic. Yeah, the scope is back heavy. Fortunately the 16 inch dovetail plate  I have on my mount allows me a lot of flexibility in how far forward or back to mount this scope, which I have on a Vixen to Losmandy dovetail converter.

Nice! Yeah I will need to find something ASAP. This shot was taken unbalanced, so I limited my shots to 45 seconds.

Very nice! What dovetail is that, and what do you have on the back (camera)?

It is a generic multi-hole dovetail (both top and bottom).

Great first light image!

Thank you! I don’t shoot globs much, but they’re growing on me. I know that sounded like a very strange sentence haha.

Hehe, totally :)

I don't shoot star clusters at all. I tried shooting M3 last week just out of curiosity and I think I am now hooked haha

That is a fantastic image! I think I’m hooked on them too. Now that I can pull some color out and get the blues and golds they are very appealing.
