Ron Brecher (part of the Masters of PixInsight group) wrote an article in Sky & Telescope on this very subject. Even well-published experts use this approach to maximize their imaging time!

Thanks the article in Sky and Telescope was enlightening. I have since seen some people in Astrobin are doing something similar but not with dual rigs.
