So noted , I did not know that. I will not do it again ... Thanks for the good advice ...

Don't go there.  They do not like it here when you say the posts in this thread affects pricing of scopes.

That was a while ago. I do not know if things have changed. We even had some threads on it. It seems kind of silly to think that this thread has no influence it certainly influences people to buy telescopes

When I started on this forum I knew very little about astronomy & equipment. Everything I know I owe to the kindness of the forum members & their willingness to share their years of expertise. Nuff said & a great big thanks to all who have schooled me ...

As I’ve learned from reading here, it all depends on the optics.  There was an Edmund 4 inch recently, with the box for $400.  What makes a likely mediocre Unitron worth 5X as much?

because it is a Unitron.  Has a higher collector value than the Edmund.  Also, better build.

AP 155 EDF on advanced telescope systems pier.  Kind of strange unless I am missing something it looks like the AP is sitting on the pier without a mount.

bidding is up around $5K.  These AP's normally are around $10K or more.  Will be interesting to see what it goes for.

would be a wonderful scope to restore.   Did many people paint those old scopes like that.  I bet the OTA is brass.

My guess is would depend on how old it is. It probably has a lot of brass parts like the focuser, cell, and hardware, but Dave Trott's originally had a steel tube. In any event it would still be wonderfull to restore and own.

it does look like a wonderful scope.   I am even more curious about the eyepieces.   I see the cob webs hanging off the Unihex.   If those are Mogey eyepieces that would be a great buy.

Yes. Somebody please rescue it and share photos with us. You won't regret it!

BTW, by the style of the cuts in the compression tubes, you can tell it's an old Unihex so it's probably been with the scope for a very long time. Stuff like that always makes me wonder about a scope's history?

Sorry Mothers. Mothers Day comes around every year. Scopes like that don't. mrevil.gif

Besides why celebrate Mothers Day this Sunday like all the other sheep?  Celebrate it today or do it next week when the crazy demand for resturants, flowers, candy, and such is lower. That's actually what my wife's family did. That said, who knows if the seller will be availble tomorrow.

If I did not live 1000 miles from that mogey , I would be all over that ! What a fine historical instrument ...

I think the Mogey sold. They have not changed the Facebook page to reflect that. So please enjoy mothers day.

Hehe - here's how Sybs is celebrating Mother's Day this year: "I want to go back to school, finish my Geology."

So I said: "O.K. We'll make it happen."

Support the Dreams of Mothers / Wives on Mother's Day - they've well earned it.

For those who missed out on the Edmund 4" refractor on AM a couple of weeks ago, another one just came up, very early model, and it's got a BB pedigree. $550

https://www.cloudyni...ctor-telescope/

And the Unitron 150 is now down to $699 for the OTA.

Seems like a good time to buy classic 4" f15 scope.

Probably not.  1970’s ATCO.  I’m not aware of any ATCOs using Astro Optical objectives that late.

aaaaand another FCT-65 coming up for sale, this time a 1987 MC model, with dedicated reducer and recently overhauled and mold-cleaned by Takahashi

Of course starting at even more ridiculous price than the one sold a few months ago, a mere USD ~2.9k excluding shipping and customs
