The annual Texas Star Party was canceled for 2021, but the Prude Ranch decided to have a star party anyway and called it West Texas Star Party. As you can see in my drone photo, the upper field is far less crowded than typical years. Less than 100 people are in attendance. I walked around and captured some equipment photos of mostly the imaging platforms.

Not much chance of a sneak attack by space monsters with all those cameras pointed skyward.  wink.gif

Good pics! Not many eyepieces in those scopes, I noticed. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the pics!

If there was a sign at the entrance "no dobs allowed" I'd believe it. smile.gif

Nice!! IMO fewer people at a site is always better. And fewer all stove up on their rules, even mo' betta! I heard good things about the gathering from pals. Shame I didn't know about it beforehand. My fault.

We were treated to a StarLink launch tonight. Counted over 45 of 'em low in the West. It resembled an alien invasion.  lol.gif

Looks like these folks know what they are doing - never have I seen so many AP mounts - and being used with smaller scopes - that's they way to do it, no under-mounting there. Heavy duty piers and tripods as well. Nice scopes too!

Yeah, there are some very serious set-ups there. Nice survey of the equipment.

Where are all the visual observers using altaz mounts?  Is this star party for imagers only?  I would stick out like a sore thumb with my UA Unistar mounts and tripods star hopping to objects.
