Sorry if this is asking about the obvious:  What would it take to convert the off-the-shelf Celestron 9x50 straight-thru finder to a RACI.  Seems as if a diagonal + an eyepiece (capable of accepting a illuminator) should do the job???

Are these available from Celestron as individual components? From anywhere else? Or is the full dress Celestron #93781 the only way to make the upgrade?

Thanks in advance,

MarkO

Nope.

To do it, you get the 1.25" diagonal and eyepiece w/illuminator that you want to use, cut about 1" off the tube (this will change depending on the eyepiece and diagonal you choose) and mount the thing to the tube.  A 1" length of 1.25" schedule 80 PVC electrical conduit has the same OD as the Celestron finder ID and obviously the ID of the conduit is 1.25".  One set screw to hold the diagonal in the PVC and three to hold the PVC and assembly in the tube.

Or, just find some rings for one of these:

Have fun!
