There is a clutch fix for the mount that makes it work better.. Early mounts do not have GPS like newer ones, but they do have relative encoders built in so it does not lose goto position if you move it by hand. As long as you limit the mount to 10-12 lbs. payload its fine. I use everything up to my Intes MK67 MCT on it. I also took it off that OEM tripod and put it on a Stellarvue Berger surveying tripod. There is a hidden 1/4-20 threaded hole right in the middle of the mount bottom that is uncovered by taking the tripod off so you can actually mount it on a decent photo tripod also for travel but the tripod must be solid not a cheap aluminum tripod.
I use it as a GnG setup around my house.
