I have a evolution 6 and a zwo 224 do you think the zwo 178 would work better for deep sky?

i am also looking at the 6 in f/4 imaging newt to use with the 224.

cant afford both so should i get the camera or the newt. I could go up to around $500 if there is a better option.

If you are talking about the colour 178 sensor, I believe the 224MC is more sensitive. Will it work better for you may depend on whether you want a slightly larger sensor with higher resolution (the 178), or a more sensitive sensor (the 224).

You could use your C6 with focal reduction instead of the fast Newt. I use twin f/6.3 reducers on my C6 and C8 to get to around f/4 with a small sensor camera, or you could use a single reducer with your C6.

I found out that the ASI178MM works exceptionally well for galaxies with my C8 @f/6.3, much better than the ASI224. Maybe you want to try with B&W for galaxies.

I also got the ASI178MC but still testing. Went very well for M57 last night, but need to do more testing.

Last night I also did a direct comparison of the MM and MC at Messier 90. But I am traveling right now and will be back only tomorrow and post the results.
