What dome hardware are you personally running, and what scope mount?
My dome is an Exploradome. The dome controller is an Arduino that I programmed myself, and for which I wrote an ASCOM driver. My mount is an iOptron CEM-60.
The dome control software that I linked to (see post #3) will control any ASCOM dome, based on the position of any ASCOM mount.
The dome stepper motor will need some sort of computerized board of course to command the motor to rotate.
This port has to have an ASCOM port, or a USB Port, or a RJ22 RJ-22 4P4C Port.
Then stelarium or - whatever - will treat it as if it were a mount and command it to rotate.
But does stelarium have a plugin to only control Ascension rotation from say a defined Home position? seeing how the dome doesn't need Declination control and cannot tilt up and down like a mount does.
Also, if I want to use the AutoStar II bandbox on the meade not Stelarium, then what?
Ideally, I would rather use my Sky Safari over wifi (I have the STELLA Module) to rotate both the Scope and the dome simultaneously.
Stellarium will not treat a dome as a mount. It has never heard of domes, and does not know what to do with one.
Treating a dome as if it were a mount, even if it were possible, will not do you any good. Perhaps with your wedged fork mount, the azimuth of the dome might be somewhat similar to the azimuth of the mount, but unless your mount is positioned so that the intersection of the RA and dec axes is exactly at the dome centre, that may not be close enough for the scope to see out of the opening. Certainly on a GEM, the dome azimuth is seldom even close to the mount azimuth. So slewing the dome as if it were a mount is of no use.
You need an application that will do the fairly complex three-dimensional vector calculations to determine what dome azimuth matches the current mount azimuth. That is what my DomeSync application does. Most session control software, like SGP or NINA, will also do those calculations.
One advantage of my DomeSync app is that, being a stand-alone application, it will match the dome azimuth to the mount even when using the hand controller to slew the mount.
