I just uploaded some views of the Orion constellation to the gallery which are calculated from a larger set of data. (A better presentation of the results can be found on my homepage at http://www.simg.de/n...ae3/ori-06.html)

One issue that is notable are the bubbles in Orion.

The Orion Molecular Cloud Complex is a part of the Orion–Eridanus Superbubble which contains several smaller bubbles, see https://doi.org/10.1...-637x/808/2/111 . The two well known ones are the Barnards Loop (cyan in the image below) and to Lambda Orionis Ring (yellow). The latter one is visible as ring in infrared only. The observed rings are the projection of a spherical shells.

The H-alpha data I collected seem to show one or even two more rings / bubbles (white and gray, These structures become better visible if you go a step back).

Click on the image because the auto-generated preview contains ugly compression artifacts:

Hi Stefan

Thanks for this posting. I was just beginning to study it and found that your link in the first paragraph is not working.

Gary
