I don’t have a Vixen refractor but, I always felt they were incredibly

attractive scopes.  I often think I need a 103s or 115s.

show us your Vixens!

I’ve had a number of Vixens and am very much enjoying my current keepers, my ED102SS 102mm F6.5 from around 2000 and my Vixen 102S F6.7 Petzval made just a couple of years earlier (both from Japan). Here’s the ED102SS:

How about Vixen mounts?  I have twelve of them and think they are great.  Here are some.

My current Vixen 103s (it's magical)

103s

My previous 81s and 130SS (rare scope)...these are no longer with me though.

The 130SS before I added on the Moonlite. This was an impressive scope. Super light weight and really nice aperture. Classic.

Unable to show you anything yet, but I do lust after a 70mm fluorite. It'll happen...

And here’s a couple of Vixen (Japan) Celestrons I used to have (C80 refractor and C4.5 Newtonian):

Back in the days when I could physically manage bigger refractors & mounts, I had an ED102SS and an SPC102. Both were fantastic scopes. Vixen is an excellent quality scope!!

Vixen 'scopes have always seemed to me to offer fine quality with decent prices.

The 4 inch, Celestron branded f/13 achromatic refractor I used to own performed beautifully and I miss it dearly. The orange tube color really appealed to me for some reason and at the time, it was the biggest refractor I had ever seen! Sounds corny, but it made me feel special when I used it.

I would likely give up all of my current telescopes if I could find another.

This one stays mounted as shown, ready for rapid deployment... high performance optics and simple mechanics.

Classic A102M + tripod, & more modern A80M. I regretfully bypassed a 130SS last year frown.gif , having bought 2 refractors already.

The AX103S has always interested me.

Guys, I am a Taka fan but I love vintage Vixen too! They are correlated to my boy’s dreams when I was drooling in front of optics’ shops selling these expensive wonderful gears...here my most beloved vintage Vixen: 90L f14! I could not afford them then but now these wonderful scopes are reachable.....

One of three Vixens I have.

Vixen (Japan) 60L f/15 StarPal achromatic refractor (from Hands on Optics, ~180usd new, closeout ~110usd shipped). Mostly plastic, came with a alt/az T mount with altitude scale, metal tubular legs. The 6x30 st finder stalk has a built in rotating ball compass. Last version of the Vixen 60mm f/15 made in Japan, I believe. Optics are quite good for a scope marketed for a young person. At least three internal baffles and maybe one in the focuser, as I recall. Added a Lumicon diagonal, some knock off canon camera rings, dovetail, 6x30 raci tube, and a Mini Porta and digital inclinometer. 30mm Series 500, NPL 15mm, 8mm plossls.

Very lightweight setup, a literal grab and go.

DSC00104

DSC00119

There was a 50mm f/18 version, also.

Good viewing,

Dave

Nicely saw the aftermath of the Shoemaker-Levy hits on Jupiter through a C80 alt-az refractor.

The AX103S has always interested me.

Same here, and it was 1 of the 4" APOs that I gave serious thought to before buying my Classic FC-100.  I'm a Vixen Fan for sure - 3 black tubes & 2 white tubes:

- C4.5 on Polaris (real sleeper!)

- First Scope C80P OTA (still have)

- SP-C102 OTA (still have)

- VMC200L OTA

- FL80S (shoulda kept!)

Celestron C-80P S21 - Mizar SP (RS Full).jpg C102 Restore S22 - Meade SF TALL (RS Full).jpg

I liked both so much that I had the tubes powder-coated.

I've owned this Vixen ED102SS for 14 years now:

vix102nagler31.JPG

The only other Vixen I've owned was this SP102M but it was branded as a Bresser Uranus back in the 1980's. Note the original Skysensor GOTO system:

Love Vixen refractors.....

The C-102 was very good     I have had two

The C-80 is a really good and so easy to move around the yard. I have had two and still have one

Now the Fluorite Vixen scopes are simply very  special

The C-102fl for me is an obvious keeper. Solid legendary performer in easy lightweight package

The vixen 80fl was so sharp and maintained its steady crisp image as power increased and     continued to increase    a true stand up fluorite

Btw   we just love the classic  Vixen white and Vixen green gray trim color scheme  just  lovely

Adding pics......

It sure is a great performer and  the Vixen 80fl does great on just about everything and it is  a very nice  sweeper with a wide field eyepiece

I use my Vixen NA140SSF (7 Kg only) with night vision in the city (with filters) and it is wonderful. Also best for me in dark sky for wide field views.

For planets in the city I have a TAK FC-100DC and a C9.25.
