For June's thread restart, Terra has contributed this photo of herself and one of her favorite classic scopes. In 1966/67 she bought a 6" mirror kit from Edmund, a primary cell, spider, and focuser from A.Jaegers and added a classic Unitron 10x40mm finder. She rough ground the mirror and then sent it to Cave for parabolizing and coating. More than fifty years later it remains one of her favorites and is still in use.

The basic guideline for this thread is to list ads and auctions for classic/vintage scopes and associated accessories that others may be interested in. Do not post your own ads or the ads of your friends, this includes items you may be trying to sell for someone else. We request that you do not post photos from ads. If you must have some reference to a photo in the post, post a link to the photo, not the photo itself. Concentrate on the item for sale, and not the seller.

Please post a live link to the item. Do not post "PM me for the link".Short discussions can take place about the items listed. When quoting a post, edit the quoted post to include only the part you are replying to. Do not post the entire ad text, or large blocks of it, without permission from the author. Keep on topic,

please!

Buyer Beware- CN is not responsible for any of the ads or auctions posted here or their content. There are some scams floating around, so do your homework before pursuing any ad.

thanks Terra!

My guess is it will be sold the second time through. I know, I'm going out on a crazy limb here....

Is that extra photo courtesy of you?

It was me.  I'm glad they updated the ad, rather than just sending me the lens pix!

Early sand cast wedge for orange C8 and LARGE base C5.

Caution:  only the early orange C5 had the large base for this wedge.  Most C5 have a smaller base and smaller wedge. Measure and ask if you're not sure.

Over $100 delivered is a bit steep but within asking range.  Make offer.

Neil, what are the correct diameter of a C-5 base that would fit this larger wedge?

I no longer have any of these CATs.  The first orange C5 had the same size base as the C8, so both fit the same wedge. The C8 base stayed the same, the C5 went to a much smaller base later.  I've had them all in sand cast and die cast but all are gone now and I'm not going back.  Hopefully someone can post measurements of both, and maybe give a time frame for when the C5 base got small.  I can't.

I had asked for those pictures and they declined...

Keep in mind shipping before you bid on this.  They have quoted me $80 shipping to Cincinnati.  Crazy.

I'd rescue that Dob and re-tube it if it wasn't a 6 hour drive away.

I'll third that or 4th it or whatever the number is now.....That is a crazy low no brainer price. If it belonged to a grandma, then I'd be telling her it's worth more. As it is, left by a tenant, someone is going to score big time.  Any New Englanders driving to Cali I'll cover your fuel and a tip if you drop it off here.

Yes, it’s tempting. But school rules are still that I can’t leave the state unless I quarantine for three days and get tested, and we’re in the last two weeks, where I don’t want to lose any class time or have to skip graduation. Hope someone here gets it. They don’t come up often, and are great scopes.

I ran out of reflectors with the students this year, but thanks to CharlieB, got another Edmund 6” that one is using for an astrophotography project, and a RAO 4” that I still need to collimate. The 7TE5 he gave me just got given to a senior who fell in love with astronomy, and also loves wilderness trekking.

That Unitron 150 ad just got reposted on AM, with only the box and an eyepiece case left. The price on the box has been reduced.
