That Unitron 150 ad just got reposted on AM, with only the box and an eyepiece case left. The price on the box has been reduced.

Chip W.

Somebody got a very good deal on the OTA, mount and tripod.

Yes  the tube showed up last night    and supposedly the    lens is arriving today

Edit      I already had  the Unitron 150 mount  and tripod I got from one of us here last winter so it was very cool to be able to  buy just the ota

It's a telescope! No, it's two telescopes! No, it's a pair of binoculars! Or is it a binoscope? Check out this weird homemade.. something for sale on Montreal Kijiji for $190.00. Seller describes it as a binocular telescope made from two reflectors, but the reflectors have different diameter mirrors. "Eyepieces" look like the oculars from an old pair of binoculars.

I don't know how old it is, but it sure is a "classic":

Neat little guy! I'm out on this one as the Eikow I just picked up is a 50/610 as well. No case with mine, though.

I'm pretty sure the NexStar's came out around 1999-2000

I saw the advertised scope and thought it might be a fun experiment in

"The optical effects of a cracked corrector" but I decided I have enough

projects.

The go-to mounting is probably worth $199 and the NexStar is a excellent

go-to.

If you buy the kit I'll give you $50 for the optical tube so you will get the

rest for $150, a very good deal.

It looks like an original Nexstar with a later serial, probably 2001-2003.

I'm not sure I could use the mount, I would have to be home and take stock. You're welcome to grab the whole thing if you want, otherwise I'll let you know this evening.

I did some reading and I think its best to skip this one, it is too old.

If it was in FL it would be in the Bolt if it would fit. I had the same scope years ago and loved the mount and the optics. I redid it since it sat at a boat yard outside for years. I redid the tube with a Sono tube and had rotating rings made for it.

2002?

The improved Nexstar 5i and 8i were introduced in 2002, so if the subject Nexstar 5 lacks any input port(s) in the base for an autoguider or PC or external GPS, it would be an example of the pre-2002 first-generation Nexstar.

SDF too much.  Modern 4 inch apos will easily beat it.  Well-built and "looks" good, for what it is worth.

Most modern apos are F7 to F9 and so they aren’t going to give you the wide fields possible with an F5.4 and while the color correction might be a little better on bright objects, it’s still very well controlled with the SDF and the polish and figure of the old TeleVue objectives are excellent. I’ve seen some modern Chinese apos that were softer. My SDF’s not going anywhere, but I did sell my contemporary (2018) 4” F7 doublet apo. I love the wide fields, pinpoint stars, and excellent contrast of my Classic TeleVue scope.

That is a lot of Unitron gear up for sale.  Sure wish that was nearby.  Even though I am clearing things out, a Unitron at the right price is always welcome.   Never in VA.

Me, too -- and I didn't keep them, either.

(A comment was made over on the APO Refractor Forum to the effect that you had to squint to see the difference between the 4" China-made EDs and Tak Fluorites.  Uh, sorry.  Nope.  If the difference isn't obvious, then you've got bad skies and/or bad eyes!)

Carton 100mm / 1300mm refractor on the pedestal version of the Carton Super Nova equatorial mount, for sale in Bilbao Spain.  My inquiry through the unprecio web site yesterday seeking information on price and shipping went unanswered, so I don't know if it is indeed still for sale, nor do I know the asking price.  (Not that a lack of information has diminished my interest ...).

http://www.unprecio....arton-cst-100kx

Has anyone here ever used the "unprecio.es" web site to make a purchase?  Or is anyone reading / following this topic located in the northwest of Spain?
