How about some Haydn -- his magnificent setting of "The heavens are telling", from the Creation.

Or if you prefer German, "Die Himmel erzählen die Ehre Gottes". Thanks to Google, I stumbled onto a setting by Heinrich Schütz of the same Psalm, that could be my new favorite. And one can hardly leave out Bach -- the opening chorus from Cantata #76 is classic.

More intimately, "Die Sterne" by Schubert.

I would play Cosmic Debris by Frank Zappa when starting the unit on comets, asteroids, and dwarf planets.

Other classroom faves:
Starship Troopers by Yes
Vangelis soundtrack to the movie Blade Runner
The Planets, Gustov Holst
Space Cowboy by Steve Miller Band

Anything from Canon of the Three Stars by Isao Tomita (Pachelbel, Bach, Villa-Lobos, Rachmaninoff, etc.). Plus lots of other spacemusic, especially by Giles Reaves.

By the way ShaulaB, "Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?" :D

Intersteller Space by John Coltrane and just about anything by Sun Ra and the Solar Arkestra.
Oh, and it’s hard to beat the silly lyrics of Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. Great song!

Some astronomically related songs I like, some with a more tenuous astronomical connection than others:

Pink Floyd:  Return of the Son of Nothing (eventually retitled Echoes)

Pink Floyd: Astronomy Domine (the version from Ummagumma, its darker than Syd's take)

Nine Inch Nails: Sunspots

Powerman 5000: Supernova goes pop

Roger Waters: Broken Bones

Surprised no one has mentioned the Rolling Stones’ “2000 Light Years From Home” or “Child of the Moon”. Ditto the Beatles’ “Across the Universe”.

Wow. Never thought I’d see some of these suggestions. Love me some Babymetal!

Rush has a lot of classics.

THE perfect astral sound at the telescope and for recreation, anytime and anywhere...
